My most recent felted bags...

I think it's about time I revealed what I've been working on. Over the past few months I've been knitting bags in hopes to strike upon ones that are worthy of selling on Etsy. I adore knitting and felting bags, picking the colours, being inspired by something unrelated to knitting that gives me a design or colour idea. I'm not even really a purse person! I carry next to nothing in my favourite felted bag. I'm not into having a purse that goes with this outfit or that. So what's a girl to do? Might as well enjoy making more bags and selling them.

Here are some bags I've made, including a few befores and afters. I keep needing my hubby's and best friend's assurance that they are "good enough"...yes I'm fishing for more opinions! ;-) It's too late anyways as I finally started an Etsy shop and listed some bags on Friday. The site is down for updating for this weekend....figures! LOL!

I love them all. And I know what you mean about the 9 year old's bag collection. I keep wondering what I am going to do with all these bags I make, but my girls take care of that for me. I can't knit them fast enough for them.

I love the bags! You'll probably have no problem selling them! I'm just learning this whole felting thing, and my first item I think could stand a bit more felting. I didn't do an I-cord handle though, just a plain garter stitch one - I think I'm regreting that though because I don't think it's going to work...it's stretch some I think and I don't know if it will be ok once stuff is put in the bag...oh well, gotta learn somehow I guess LOL. This is a Christmas gift (supposedly) so I won't have pics of it until after the recipient gets it.

Thanks Monica and Shelley. Shelley, I have many bags where I wish I had done something differently. If only you could reverse felt stuff and make a different decision! LOL! I guess you never stop learning. One of my most favourite bags is for my best friend, but that will remain a secret until after she gets it. Still, in hindsight, I wish I had added a few more rows to it, but it's too late now!

Thanks Carole and Linda. Oh and I do sleep, but probably put the needles down much later than I should. The purses are all my own patterns, I write them down as I go just in case the end result is a winner. I only lined one bag. Lining that one bag showed me that I HATE lining bags. It's so tedious. It took the joy right out of the whole process. The most I will do is cover a piece of foam board in a coordinating fabric for inside the base of the bag for a nice sturdy bottom. That's quick and easy.
