A short while ago I threw this bag into the wash for felting:
Well, any fears of Patons SWS yarn not felting has totally left my mind! I now have a cute little purse, big enough for my wallet, the cellphone, a package of gum, and lipgloss. Figures I'd get this felting thing down THIS time, when before it always took about 3 runs in the machine. THIS time I added the pair of jeans, I also soaped up 2 faceclothes with a sunlight soap laundry bar instead of using baking soda. I walked away. WHAMMO! One run and we've gone from shoulder bag to wrist bag!
Note to self: CHECK felting process instead of throwing caution to the wind! This little thing WAS 12" wide and 12 1/2" long (excluding straps). It is now 6 1/4" wide and 6 1/2" long.
In reality I laughed my head off as I pulled it out of the pillow case. It's a good thing I wasn't in love with the colourway and looked at the whole thing as an experiment. Just seems like an awful lot of knitting for such a small bag!

OK, I KNOW it came out smaller than you wanted but it is still adorable! I LOVE it!!
Wow never had one (or any other project felt that much!!) but this is really cute and love the shape and all!!! did a nice job!! maybe knit it on larger needles??? I do mine on like a 13 or 15?? not sure if it would help though!! I love it and the handle is great!! is that part of the pattern??? if not how did you do that?? hugs Linda
LOL, You are definitely GOOD at felting!! This bag is great, I love the smaller size and the handles are excellent. Very nice :)
You're obviously a very good felter! I love the bag - the straps are gorgeous.
It is adorable, Heidi. The shape, the stripes, the handle... You Go!
Thanks everyone, you guys are awfully sweet! I'm getting more attached to the little purse the more I hear comments like these.....Linda, the handle is made by knitting 2 I-cords side by side, twisting them, then using the kitchener stitch to graft them in on the other side where 6 stitches are waiting on a stitch holder. I've never done it before, but using the internet for additional tips really helped!
Wow, you lost half in your felting process! I just ordered some of their yarn. It looks great though. Nice color! I love the twist for the handle.
Gee Heidi, I love this...I just read your email and clicked on your link to check up on your latest knitting creations...Love it!
I really want to learn felting!!
